Someone help me buy a camera!!

Why my silence for a long long time? Well.. my camera exploded.. yes thats right... it EXPLODED! Well the flasher atleast.. Since my little addiction to clicking like a maniac began i was using a Sony T-11. Pretty decent camera and i got used to it. Well.. with all the problems i had with it i have spent a hmmm.. good 20000 bucks repairing it every time something happened. So i thought i'm going to throw this one away and get a new one. Except.. i am good with my electronics.. yet i'd love some advice from you brilliant clickers! God i've seen the stuff you guys take and it's just amazing! Sooooooo.... Yep.. gimme some models and review on it and tell me why you love it? [like a grade 3 essay request :D] but do help me out here when you have time! Adios! As for my next little trip.. a small week or so cruise thru Sing / Malaysia / Thailand in august.. lets hope i get a new camera by then!

Digital SLRs are good for professional photography, like Nikon D50 or D70. They're a bit big for my taste. In picking a pocket digicam I think ISO (light sensitivity) is more important than megapixels. I got a FujiFilm F30 which goes up to ISO 3200, meaning I can take pictures in low-light without flash. I'm really happy with it.

like Indi mentioned, DSLRs are a superb tool to have. Whether you're an amateur, hobbyist or professional. I have a D50 and it's serving me very well.
But for a standard point and shoot - i would go with any Sony Cybershot. It has the basic autofocus and all the conveniences of auto settings, but it also gives you a few variable manual features. Very useful if you wish to experiment a bit. Higher ISO is good, cos I hate using a flash in low light, and a digicam with higher ISO will be perfeclty complemented with manul aperture and shutter control - like what you get in the sony cybershots.

hi there, i use a Nikkon S1. Small and handy. 5.1 Megapixels. This was purchased a year ago, now the Nikkon s6 is in the market. Has Wifi and all as well. I suggest you NEVER should buy cameras from lanka as i realised that they are quite expensive. I mean maybe at time 10+ thou more than buying from abroad. I suggest, Singapore, HK or a country like that. Oh, i ve dropped my cam a couple of times as well and nothing has happened yet! Happy HUnting!

I'm a Canon kid..love my Rebel XT, the problem with DSLR's is that you have to make a huuge investment in lenses. My lenses are more than double what I paid for the body itself and thats just a beginning, filters, polarizers, tripods, high capacity memory cards all add up...figure around $2000 to get some decent equipment.

With point and shoots I like Canon and Olympus stylus...dude check cnet.com or zdnet.com also check Amazon.com for user reviews and photographyreview.com.

Agree with Dilsiri, everything in SL is double the damn price...Simlim square in Sing is v.good price wise...just make sure u get the proper warranty...

Decide your budget. Switch off your phone whole Sunday and go through http://www.dpreview.com/
Don’t try to do that in week days because you may need to download high resolution photos and that need faster internet line.
